At Loire Valley Time Travel we are committed to taking our clients to the places they want to see and striving to make your time with us as memorable as possible. The Loire Valley is "UNESCO World Heritage" listed for the historical and cultural importance of both its built and natural environment. There are over 300 châteaux in the area, many of which are open to the public. We would not recommend trying to visit more than 2 châteaux in a day but on most tours we are likely to drive past 3 or 4 lesser known châteaux en route, so there is a generous allowance in the schedule for stopping to look and take photos. All of our tours are done at a leisurely pace - we know you want to see as much as possible, but you don't want to be rushed. Of course, the Loire Valley isn't just all about châteaux, and we leave plenty of time for a proper lunch (90 minutes seems to be the standard French lunch 'hour'), often at a bistrot or a small restaurant frequented by local workers. These places are incredibly good value, and offer traditional food in a congenial atmosphere. Alternatively, if you want a more formal fine dining experience there are many establishments to choose from. We are confident in the restaurants we take our guests to, but if you know of a restaurant you want to try, don't hesitate to ask. Our local knowledge means that we can ensure you are aware of all the attractions along a proposed route. The Loire and Touraine abound in sites of historic significance, from mans' earliest days through to reminders of the recent past; fine gardens, and wild environments with notable flora and fauna. Also living and working in the area are traditional food producers and craftspersons. Just an hour from Paris by train, it makes sense to start your tour in the fine city of Tours. We will provide you with all the information you need to book your tickets on France's 300 kmh (186 mph) TGV, and we will meet you at the station to start your tour of some of the delights this region holds. |
