Loire Valley Time Travel

Meet the food and wine producers of the Loire Valley

The Loire Valley has always been a place where fine food and wine have been celebrated. The following tours combine a visit to the most famous chateau with meeting world class artisan food producers. If your interest is wine ask us about visiting some of the small family run wineries, many of which are organic. We usually offer wine tours on Monday to Saturday only as the most of the winemakers we visit are small, family run estates which do not receive visitors on Sunday.

Classic Loire Valley Food and Wine

To get into the right mood we start the day at a classic Loire Valley Chateau. Chenonceau is an iconic building with links to the most powerful women of the French Renaissance, and is an absolute "must see". After lunch we visit one of the last mushroom growing caves in the Loire Valley, where we take an underground tour of the mushroom caves and underground village.

We then spend time with one of our favorite cheesemakers, who makes a range of goats cheese. On the way back to Tours we visit an independant winemaker who makes award winning still and sparkling white wine. We tour the 1000 year old caves with the winemaker or his assistant learning how wine is made, and finish with a tasting.

€1010(euros) for two people starting in Tours. Wednesday-Saturday.
Includes all entry fees, tasting costs, and lunch with wine in a carefully selected restaurant.

Wine, Food, and Market Shopping

The small medieval town of Loches is home to one of the best weekly markets in the area. As well as the market, which hosts many local producers and growers, Loches has a fine medieval chateau and royal citadel.

We will lunch in a restaurant that is a firm favorite with local farmers, after which we visit the chateau of Chenonceau for a fully guided visit of the luxurious interior and the magnificent grounds. We then end the day at a small winemaker to learn how sparkling wine is made, before tasting the results.

€1010(euros) for two people starting in Tours. Wednesdays and Saturdays, or Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday without the market visit. Includes all entry fees, tasting costs, and lunch with wine in a carefully selected restaurant.
